Melia Las Dunas Dec 08
Melia Las Dunas Hotel what can I say. I read first some reviews on Trip advisor before going ahead and confirm this hotel with my travel agent. Most of the reviews were positives and I ended up booking this hotel. There were others but the travel agent insisted this was the best hotel in Cayo Santa Maria so I decided to go by his suggestion.
The hotel it self looks very nice, beautiful gardens, impressive huge lobby, rooms are large and to a normal standard they are fairly clean.
The food not bad there was a good variety on the buffet reason why we did not bother booking a la carte restaurants which are free as well but you have to go to the reception and book it from there the day before and you are allowed 3 bookings if you stay a week.
What went wrong?
What the travel agent did not mention is that the hotel is jam packed with families each of them with about 10 kids. Really I am not exaggerating here. It was mission impossible to find a sun bed by the beach or swimming pools. These families had about 10 sun beds each and were not using even one.
I hated to seat my butt in the sand and then roast like a chicken everyday because I could not even find a shady place.
Ok, I know I am sounding like a grumpy old man and I apologize if I hurt someone’s feelings.
My point is if you don’t like resorts full of kids then do not go to this hotel cause you are going to be running into them every minute.
Apart from that everything was nice.
Cayo Santa Maria is a very nice and unspoiled beach area my only regret was not to have stayed at Melia Cayo Santa Maria instead of Melia Las Dunas Hotel.
