Are you thinking about a holiday to Cuba? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. The heritage of Cuba is as rich as are the monuments and palaces throughout the country. A holiday to Cuba is something you should really consider in your agenda.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Hiking: The most ambitious hiking trails are to be found in the Sierra Maestra national park, but there are also delightful rambles in the forests around the Gran Piedra and, in the west, Soroa and Viales. In the absence of detailed trail-maps, it may be best to hire a local guide.

Havana: The city, with a population of 2,180,000 the biggest in the Caribbean, mirrors all phases of the island’s turbulent story. Nowhere in Latin America will you find more handsome buildings from the Spanish colonial era. Palaces, mansions and churches are being painstakingly conserved in the old quarter.

Music: In 1997, Buena Vista Social Club exploded on the international scene with records and the documentary film of Wim Wonders. In their 70s and 80s, singers Cam pay Segundo and Ibrahim Ferrer and pianist Ruben Gonzalez suddenly became world stars. They reintroduced Europeans and Americans to the magic of Afro-Cuban music.

A bit of History: Christopher Columbus disembarked on October 28, 1492, somewhere between Gibara and Guardalavaca. Following threats of mutiny and an overnight rain- storm, he wrote with undisguised relief in his journal: “Everything I saw was so lovely that my eyes could not weary beholding such beauty”.

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. The options are immeasurable for your holidays to Cuba. Stay tune to this article directory as there will be more useful information about Cuba coming soon.

Cuba is such a big Island that it makes it ideal for multi centre holidays. There is so much to do and see that sometimes - depending on the itinerary - 2 weeks are not enough.

Cuba is such a big Island that it makes it ideal for multi centre holidays. There is so much to do and see that sometimes - depending on the itinerary - 2 weeks are not enough.

This amazing Caribbean destination has a lot to offer and sets apart from the rest of the islands in the area. Cuba possesses a lot of attributes that make it really unique. Its beautiful beaches on either side of the archipelago are today the main attraction for holiday seekers.

Varadero and Guardalavaca are the most popular beach locations in Cuba. In fact they were the only beaches with infrastructure before the tourist boom in Cuba in late 90’s. Later on other beach destinations followed such as Cayo Largo, Cayo Coco, Santa Lucia, Cayo Guillermo and the newest Cayo Ensenacho.

There is much more other than just beaches. Cuba was for many centuries the “Key to The Americas” and as a result its cultural and historic heritage is immeasurable. Its architecture is very striking. A mingle of Colonial and modern styles can be appreciated in most of the main cities in Cuba.

Landscapes are the inspiration of artists all around the world. The astonishing Viales Valley is a sort of mountainous region that only exists in Cuba and in no other island in the Caribbean. This location is home to the best tobacco leafs in the World.

Havana has to be the location par excellence in Cuba. It is for sure the main source of interaction with the real Cuban culture. This vibrant city located on the north coast of Cuba towards the west end is the main point of arrival of the almost 3 million a year visitors to Cuba.

Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa are some of the most important cities in Cuba. Trinidad is one of the oldest villages founded by the Spanish Colonization and Santiago de Cuba stands out for its history, music and carnivals.

To know the real Cuba you need to combine few of this location. They all offer something unique and exciting. It is important to research a bit on internet or brochures for information about Cuba. Getting in touch with a Cuban specialist in crucial in order to make the most out of you experience in Cuba. Multi centre holidays are highly recommended and the do not come necessarily expensive. In some cases they are even cheaper than single centre.

Melia Las Dunas Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria becomes the favourite family beach hotel in the central part of Cuba especially among tourist coming from Canada and UK.

Melia Las Dunas Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria becomes the favourite family beach hotel in the central part of Cuba especially among tourist coming from Canada and UK.

This resort is huge - with over 900 rooms - is the biggest hotel in the central part of Cuba. There are 5 restaurants of which one serves buffet services and the others are a la carte restaurants. The swimming pools are large and divided into areas for adults and kids.

Cayo Santa Maria located off the north coast of Villa Clara province is reachable by air, sea or land. It is a tiny island connected to main land by a road built over the sea. The 40 minutes drive along this road is simply fantastic. With the sea in both sides of the road the traveller can admire all the different colour hues of the ocean.

Melia las Dunas is one of just 3 hotels located in this island and offers an excellent 5 star service to its clients. The beach area is large enough to avoid overcrowding even on the busiest of the tourist seasons.

The food offer is not bad considering the standards of Cuban Cuisine. This hotel is managed by the Spanish Hotel Chain ‘Sol Melia Hotels’ and their standards of service are higher than hotels managed by the Cuban Government. You can enjoy dishes from every corner of the world. Vegetables and fruit are seasonable and always fresh.

If you are travelling with children this hotel offer free baby sitting facilities and older kids can enjoy plenty of activities held on a daily basis by the swimming pool and the hotel theatre.

It is always recommended reading reviews of other travelers on Trip Advisor or any other trip reviewer website you prefer. You can use the information on these websites to help you make the right decision.

Before you decide to go for Melia Las Dunas Hotel make sure you read on allMelia las Dunas reviews in Jose Mauricio’s Cayo Santa Maria’s Blog.

The province of Holguin, in the oriental part of the island with coasts to the Atlantic Ocean, is considered a stronghold for the leisure industry in Cuba and boasts one of the best beaches in the world. Particularly popular is the all inclusive Cuba holidays modality supported by cultural, historic, and natural attractions which mix in perfect harmony.

The beach of Guardalavaca, featured among the most emblematic of the East of Cuba, was even ignored in some maps of the region for few centuries. But thanks to its natural attributes and the increase of the tourist industry in Cuba, this relative unspoiled beach is today one of the main tourist destinations in Cuba.

Valleys, hills, lakes and rivers combine with unique vegetation and a fauna including the national bird Tocororo, woodpeckers, parrots, cateyes, macaws, jutas congas, the aboriginal manatee and even wild horses.

The programs of relaxation permit besides to discover by sea Caribbean places of the Cuban north coast, with highly natural, cultural and historic values, in itineraries that arrive to the archaeological museum and the village Tana of Spurt of Mata, as well as the well known Gibara, city of fishermen and with a colonial architecture well conserved.

Home of the main aboriginal settlements of Cuba, this location’s astonishing beaches are of a blue turquoise that hypnotizes us with the smooth movement of the sea. Guardalavaca defines nature, culture, history, relaxation, beach and recreation in a single name.

Next to Bariay, a place that amazed the Admiral Cristobal Columbus when discovered Cuba in 1492, the Brisas Guardalavaca hotel is erected. It is feature under the modality All Inclusive and it is located in the best part of beach area. If you are looking at snorkelling then there is no better place in Cuba.

For a well-deserved break from the boredom of daily life, travel to Varadero. Snugly located on the northernmost fringes of the island of Cuba, the tiny peninsula of Varadero with its clear blue waters lined with virginal white beaches is considered one of the best beaches in the world. Welcoming visitors for generations, Varadero is visited by 500,000 tourists annually. Varadero, meaning dry dock in Spanish for that is how it was used in the 16th century, became a city in the 1800s. It soon grew and expanded to become the tourist paradise it is today.

Varadero is very easy to reach, with several flights from the Americas, Europe and the Caribbeans landing at the local Juan Gualberto Gomez International Airport. For the seafaring traveler, docking facilities are available at the Chapelin, Puertosol Darsena de Varadero and Gaviota marinas. Hotel accommodation is easy to come by in all segments, and several international names like Sandals, Melia and Iberosta having prominent presence.

Once settled in, you can start enjoying the Varadero experience. If you can manage to tear yourself away from the beach, this tropical paradise offers you the exotic Bellamar Caves to explore and the natural beauty of the Parque Josone to experience. If you want to sample the local cuisine, there are numerous options ranging from the beach vendors to posh restaurants. If nightlife is your thing, then you can’t miss out visiting the Tropicana Matanzas, the most famous cabaret in Cuba. And yes, the famed Cuban cigars are also available.

You should also visit the towns of Cardenas (a seaside town) and Matanzas (the “city of bridges”), the Santa Elvira Church and see the El Patriarca cactus, reputed to be more than 600 years old. At night, venture out for a taste of Cuban nightlife, with the Rumba Palace, the Continental Cabaret, and the Habana Cafe definitely worth a visit.

For the sporty visitor looking for thrills, Varadero offers water sports (Barracuda Club), swimming with dolphins (Delfinario), parachuting (International Parachuting Center), and much, much more. The Mojito, a splendid concoction of freshly crushed mint, lime juice and white rum, is a must-have in Varadero, accompanied by the Cuba Libre, a combination of of rum, cola and lime juice.

With exotic beaches, cuisine and natural attractions, Varadero offers an exotic tropical getaway like no other. Therefore, to get away from it all, travel to Varadero.

When someone has the privilege of visiting the beautiful city of Havana, Cuba they are very impressed by the country and the warm and friendly people who greet them. As the capital of Cuba, it is the country’s leading commercial center and has had a strong redevelopment program, which has resulted in excellent Havana Hotels.

The hotels in Cuba are modern and on par with others around the world. Many have swimming pools or are located in a beach area as well as some offering on-site entertainment. Always cognizant of pleasing their guests they will do whatever is necessary to fill any reasonable guest request.

When booking a hotel in Cuba one has several choices. It can be Bed and Breakfast, All Inclusive or regular hotel room accommodations. There are many locations available so there is a choice of being in a quiet location or in the middle of town.

Because of their year round tropical climate, the visitor can come to Havana any time of the year and be comfortable. They do not have to worry about extreme temperatures during their visit. Exploring the city, especially Old Havana, is an experience that one will remember for years to come.

There are hotels located in different areas of the city. A visitor can choose the location they feel meets their needs, whether in the downtown or on the edge of town, depending on their interests. There are many activities available such as golf, sightseeing and local festivities to enjoy.

Visitors staying at one of the Havana Hotels for the first time are always amazed at the courteous and expert hotel staff. These people are specially trained in how to serve people from all over the world. They are well aware of each countries customs and are ready to assist with any problems with language or other things. Stating in one of these excellent hotels will be an experience to remember.

If you are going on holidays to Cuba you need to visit its Capital Havana and what better way to know this vibrant city other than walking along its most interesting and popular streets and alleys and hanging out in the most popular squares. In this article I am going to introduce you to the best of Havana?s promenades.

El Malecon: This is a see front avenue that stretches for 7 kilometers from La Punta Fortress in the Old Town to La Chorrera Fortress in the west end. Considered by many the most beautiful see front promenade in the world, El Malecon is also the most popular gathering place for Havana?s residents.

Paseo del Prado: El Prado Promenade was build at the end of the 19th Century alongside the west end of the wall that protected Havana?s Old Town for almost 200 years. Soon after the wall was brought down El Prado became the fanciest place to live. Today you can admire the magnificent architecture of its best?s residences.

Avenida de Los Presidentes: Also known as “Calle G” since the nomenclature given to the streets in Vedado district. Along this avenue one can admire the most opulent residence of Havana. Most of these properties are now government institutions since they were left vacant by their owner in the first few years after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Calle 5ta:The 5th Avenue in Havana became in the 1950?s the best place to life in Havana. Today you can admire the most sumptuous properties in the whole of Cuba. Perhaps you should take a taxi and get to see this area which unfortunately is not walking distance from the best hotels in Havana.

Calle Galiano: This one is particularly popular among locals because of its many retail shops. The China Town and Casa de La Musica Salsa Palace are also located in Galeano Street.

Havana is a must see city and if you did not think about including at least few nights in Cuiba?s Capital then I suggest you reconsider your schedule; for Havana is the most vibrant and enigmatic province in Cuba.
